In 2007 Bruce opened one of the first of its kind registered massage therapy clinics in Kanata. Ability Massage Therapy & Acupuncture is an anchor in our Kanata North community. This is where are roots continue to grow in excellence in massage and acupuncture with a revered group of health care professionals. With the growing demand for our services and our reputation amongst RMTs and RACs for creating an empowering supportive workplace, Bruce and Rose opened The Massage Shoppe in Stittsville in 2013. When you walk into our clinics we greet you with a warm welcome and true intention to provide our best care possible. During the Pandemic we were fortunate to purchase a beautiful home in Almonte that allowed us space to continue our creativity and open a boutique home based studio. In 2021 Beyond Massage opened, offering our community a quiet space to come for treatments and enjoy our outdoor Scandinavian experience. In 2024 we expanded our services to include Stott Pilates on the Reformer. In 2025 we expanded our services to include Osteopathy in both our Kanata and Stittsville clinics. That's a little bit about us.
Bruce Ford, Owner, RMT
Bruce brings 23 years of clinical experience and an innate ability for problem solving the dysfunctional kinetic chain. His osteopathic approach and ability to sense when a client is guarding has enabled him to help many clients overcome acute and chronic pain conditions. Bruce brings humour and a continuing education background in fascial stretch therapy and muscle energy technique to Almonte.
Rose Murdoch, Owner, BA, RMT, Certified Stott Pilates Reformer Teacher
Rose brings 23 years of clinical experience and an intuitive therapeutic touch to her treatments. Her years of experience with neck and head injuries have helped many clients suffering with concussions and chronic depletion. Rose brings patience and a continuing education background in Chinese medicine and cranio sacral therapy to Almonte. Rose is also a certified STOTT pilates reformer teacher. She offers private and semi-private reformer training.

Learn how to activate your core, move your scapula, hold a neutral position, strengthen and elongate your physique. Age with grace, balance and power.
Rose is a certified Stott Pilates Reformer Teacher. She completed Essential and Intermediate Reformer Training in Oakville in 2024. She completed Stott Matwork Level 1 and 2, and workshops in injuries and special populations in 2013/14.

This side by side registered massage therapy session is now available for you and a loved one to enjoy shared time together. This unique service is only available in our Almonte location. You can choose a 45 or 60 minute treatment. This service comes with a complimentary 15 minute shiatsu foot massage post treatment.

Enjoy Time for Two, a private couples experience including outdoor wood fire sauna, spa bucket shower, outdoor wood fire rest area with complimentary snacks and citrus water. Then come inside for side by side registered massage therapy. Snow shoe rentals are available to enjoy some forest bathing. Fridays 5pm Saturdays 1 & 3:30pm
Sweat it all out Saturdays
Pilates and Hydrotherapy. New this season we are offering our Hydrotherapy Zone to complement your wellness journey. Book your duo reformer pilates workout followed by our wood fire sauna, spa bucket shower and outdoor rest area. Complimentary protein bites with citrus water. Fridays 3pm. Saturdays 10am, 11am and 12pm. Side by side massage can be added on request.

The V2Max reformer allows for greater comfort, multiple adjustments and smooth motion to achieve proper form and execution of the exercises. Stability Chair Flow and Athletic Conditioning
The stability chair offers a unique opportunity to work on all your stabilizing muscles, tendons and ligaments. Not to be underestimated, this Elite piece of Merrithew Equipment will navigate your body into untapped places. You will absolutely leave craving more! The stability chair will be integrated into Intermediate classes to build on core strength and add to your athletic conditioning program.
Power Paced Fitness Circle
The fitness circle will challenge your proprioceptors, co-ordination and bring a dynamic powerful option to your reformer workout. We call it the ring of fire, feel the burn....for days!
Athletic Conditioning
Studio 56 offers an Athletic Paced full body workout on the reformer. This class is available to students completing at least 20 sessions with Rose in the last 6 months. Get yourself ready by joining her beginner/intermediate sessions. Fundamentals are an absolute requirement. This is for advanced students.
Tower Training
Studio 56 uses the tower to challenge the body beyond the reformer. Tower training gives new angles and accessories to build on our fundamental exercises, creates safe positioning for students who are recovering from a set back, senior clients who are ready for new exercises and intermediate students looking to take their training to new heights (literally)!
Jump Board
Integrating the Jumpboard into your reformer training brings that missing piece you were craving....heart rate! The jump board builds bone density, challenges rhythm and pace, proprioceptors and spacial awareness. The jump board offers stability and agility while increasing heart rate for heart health. It's the Stott version of hot pilates....you will create your own heat with your power and execution of the exercises.
Total Barre
Love ballet? You may remember or maybe curious about those lessons in ballet and if they would ever be a part of your adult life. Total Barre combines the familiar ballet principles with our Stott Pilates principles and brings the possibly hardest most satisfying workout that your body has been craving. Welcome back little ballerina, you are in your pilates era!
